Happy New Year! Welcome to the start of a brand new decade.
Citywire hit it’s 20th year in 2019 so after such a mile stone, and as a fresh new year is starting, we have put together some of the things that we in the events team want to achieve this year.
Apart from small things such as keeping our desk plants alive and our packing area tidy, we have big plans for the year! A huge thing that the entire company is working on is sustainability. It is more important now than ever to be as environmentally conscious as possible, as the world is waking up to the threat of global warming. For our team specifically, we are finding new ways to improve our events.
Within events we have changed a lot of things. Our range of eco friendly collateral now includes tote bags made from recycled cotton and biodegradable pens made from sugar cane.
We are also cutting down on using plastic as much as we can. We are now using recyclable name badges and are aiming to print a lot less overall. Where we do need to print it will be on recycled paper. Our lanyards are now all made from bamboo.
If you are going to be one of our future Citywire award winners, you’ll be receiving a wooden accolade instead of an acrylic one.
Moving forward, we are focusing on offsetting the amount of carbon we create from our travels. We have started to tackle this by choosing flights that emit less C02 and airlines that are promoting carbon neutrality. We have more exciting and long term plans on this coming soon, watch this space!
This year we are also bringing brand new events to you! Starting with our Sustainable Strategies forum being held in London in March. You can keep up to date with all of the events we’ll be hosting this year here. We are also planning on moving our events to new countries this year so it’s becoming harder to miss out.
Hopefully we’ll be able to achieve this and more over the year! We can’t wait to start our events again and welcoming all of our delegates and sponsors.
