Going Virtual: Citywire Montreux

The Citywire events team has been keeping busy coming up with new ideas to adapt to the pandemic’s restrictions. On Wednesday 4th may, we were delighted to finally launch our first ever full day virtual event: Citywire Virtual Montreux.

The first weekend of May is a special one for our European audience, with over 300 financial professionals joining us in Montreux. This year was different but no less special. 269 unique viewers, from 27 different countries joined us for a new and innovative form of virtual event, making this year’s edition arguably the most accessible ever.

The event included 14 separate virtual discussions. Sponsors shared their resources, displayed video content and carried out polling questions. Delegates also asked questions, using Zoom’s Q&A function.

Virtual Montreux played host to two conference sessions. Citywire Selector editor, Chris Sloley, chaired a debate between two liquidity experts: Michael Howell and Prof. Richard Werner, who have taken to the Citywire stage before. The debate centered on the role of Central Banks during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

We rounded up the event with an unprecedented coming together of CEO’s. Who joined Citywire Executive Chairman, Lawrence Lever, from 3 different continents and 5 different cities to answer the question: ‘where does asset management go from here?’

The outcome of the pandemic is unclear, but virtual events provide a whole variety of exciting new opportunities.

We have a great deal of new Virtual events upcoming! We are looking forward to welcoming you to them in the coming months.
